Morris in London

Today was a trip to London where we visited both the William Morris Society at Kelmscott House and also Emery Walker's home - a friend of Morris, fellow socialist and also Morris's typographer. The day was lovely and it was nice to walk along the Thames. We start at the Black Lion Hotel - owned by a New Zealander and staffed by Aussies...then we meet up again there for lunch.....

 After lunch we take the short trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum where a guide takes us on a Morris journey through the enormous galleries. This year our guide started with pre Morris days - the garish Rococo style and then on to Pugin the gothic revivalist who inspired William Morris......

 Following this period we sat in the gallery with the Crystal Palace model where Morris eventually displayed his work.........

 The Bullerswood carpet is still on display and it was wonderful to see it again.......

 Jason Yenter and I have worked on a new range of fabrics due for release in September which you can see here. The main fabric comes in a few colourways and combines the Bullerswood pattern with the Strawberry Thief....... 

 and the 'Bullerswood quilt' to accompany the range..........

 I think this embroidered hanging would be quite at home in the 'King's Chamber' Nydia and Ken!.......

And finally......I received this photo from Emily tonight - what a great thrill! It stirred my heart and brought a tear to my eye......the love from big brother to his new baby sister.........just lovely xxx
